Terms of Service

Almost everything we sell is personalized and made to order from the photo and details you provide. Each piece is produced individually, so slight natural variation in colour, texture and finish is part of the handcrafted character — not a defect.

You keep ownership of the photos and media you upload. By uploading, you grant us a limited licence to use that media to proof, produce, host the memory feature for, and support your order.

You confirm that you have the right to use the images and media you provide, and the consent of any identifiable people in them. Please don't upload anything unlawful, infringing, or that you don't have permission to use.

For custom pieces we send you a proof before we make anything. Production begins only after you approve the proof. Your approval confirms the design, size, and final price. Two free revision rounds are included so we can get it right together.

Prices are shown at checkout in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise, with applicable taxes and shipping calculated there. Free-shipping and other promotions run from time to time, apply automatically when you qualify, and may change or end at any time. Payment is taken through our secure checkout. Thread Painting works on a quote-then-approve basis — you're only charged once you approve your proof.

Delivery is covered by our Shipping & Delivery policy, and returns by our Refund & Returns policy. In short: because custom pieces are made one-of-one for you, they're final once you approve the proof — but we'll always replace anything that arrives damaged or isn't made as approved.

Most of our pieces include a memory feature: an embedded NFC tag you tap with your phone to play the moment you saved. Metal pieces instead include a companion Memory Card (metal blocks NFC), which you tap or scan to the same effect. Playing a memory needs an NFC-capable smartphone with NFC enabled. We provide this feature on a best-effort basis and aim to keep your memory available, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted hosting, and we may improve or migrate the underlying technology over time.

Please use the site lawfully. Don't attempt to disrupt or attack it, scrape it at scale, resell our designs, or upload content that infringes others' rights. We may suspend access for misuse.

The site, our brand, photography, and original artwork (including our mandala designs) belong to Varnakalar and may not be copied or reused without permission. Content you upload remains yours.

The site and our products are provided to the fullest extent permitted by law on an "as is" basis, with the expected variation of handmade goods. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under applicable Canadian consumer-protection law that cannot be excluded.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes are subject to the courts of Ontario.

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always the one posted here, with the "last updated" date above.
